This page is dedicated to one of my great loves: alcohol. I love to drink, and am learning the art of mixology. I prefer cocktails of a lighter sort, my favorites being Midori Sour, Fuzzy Navel, and Absolut Kurant & Cranberry. Vodka has a very special place in my heart. I love Vodka Jello Shots, especially grape!!! Those things are wonderfully lethal.

Beer is not high on my taste list, but I do like Guinness, as well as Heineken, Fosters, and Grolsch. I've just discovered Stella Artois beer, which just rocks my casbah. And any kind of strong cider is good, especially pear, peach, or raspberry cider.

Wines are a whole other story. I'm very picky about my wines, and my poison is merlot or chianti. I like White Zinfandel as well. A good blush is always agreeable to me, as well as Pink Champagne. And, believe it or not, I like hillbilly wine, a la Boone's and such. The reason is that they taste fruity, get you drunk quick, and are cheap!! (That's the main reason)

Margaritas and dacquiri's are great, but no Pina Colada's thank you! Blech! Here are a few of my favorite drink recipes and favorite alcohol related links.

Note: This is the page where I get the most amount of typos, simply because I usually drink while working on it. Call it inspiration. Or just plain drunkenness. At any rate, excuse the mess.

Vodka Cranberry: This is one of my favorite drinks! The following recipe is the one I use for my vodka cranberries and it's never failed me yet!

Ingredients:

1/3 part Absolut Kurant
2/3 part cranberry juice (I like Ocean Spray's Cranberry Juice Cocktail)
Ice
A glass

Directions:

1. Fill the glass with ice.
2. Pour in the Absolut Kurant, so that it's about 1/3 full. Or if you want to be really precise you can divide up the oz. capacity of the glass.
3. Fill in the rest of the glass with cranberry juice, and voila!
*Note: Thise recipe is for a rather strong drink. Absolut Kurant, though not as strong as plain vodka, doesn't have a particulary pleasant taste to the untrained tongue. So you may want to start out with 1/4 of Absolut Kurant and 3/4 of cranberry juice. Or, if you prefer the really strong stuff or want a buzz like right away, do half/half with the voddy and cranberry juice.

Midori Sour: Another favorite of mine! This is probably my all-time favorite drink.

Ingredients:

1/3 Midori Liquor
2/3 Sour Mix
Ice
Maraschino cherry
Glass

Directions:
1. Fill a glass or tumbler with ice.
2. Pour in 1/3 of Midori Liquor.
3. Fill in the glass with the remaining 2/3 of Sour Mix. (I like Mr & Mrs T's brand of sour mix. It comes in a plastic bottle and it's yellow.)
4. Garnish with a cherry and serve!
Optional recipe: Some people like to add chunks of lime into Midori Sours. YUCK! I hate lime flavoring with my Midoris'.
Another variant is to add a bit of vodka into this drink. And, if you're a real whiz at mixing, you can always opt for mixing your own sour concoction instead of using premade mix. Hey, if I had a fully stocked bar at my disposal, I'd mix it myself too.
For another variation on the Midori Sour K.Legum~theVikingQueen suggests substituting Sour Mix with Green Apple Sour Puckers (a type of schapps liquor). I can't wait to try this one!

Fuzzy Navel: A great drink that I'm always in the mood for!

Ingredients:

1/3 to 1/2 (depending on how strong you want it) of Peach Schnapps
2/3 to 1/2 of orange juice
Ice, glass

Directions:
1. Fill a glass with ice.
2. Pour in the peach schapps (I like DeKuyper's Peachtree Schnapps).
3. Add the orange juice.
4. Gulp it down!

**Alternate Recipe:
If you like vodka, or want something a bit stronger, just add vodka. Surprisingly, the taste is much unchanged.
1/4 Peach Schnapps
1/4 vodka (I love Skyy voddy!)
2/4 orange juice
Pour everything into a glass filled with ice, and serve.

Vodka Jello Shots:

Ingredients:
One package of Jello. You pick the flavor. My favorites are Grape and Strawberry.
Vodka (You can use regular voddy, like Skyy, though if you want a kick, use a flavored voddy like Absolut Kurant or Absolut Citron)
Little Dixie Cups (Or shot glasses, though Dixie cups are more convenient for me)

Directions:
1. Follow the directions on the Jello packet. Substitute vodka for water. (I believe this is a cup or so. This gives a really strong voddy flavor though, so you may want to use a 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup and/or add sugar. Just a thought)
2. Pour into the little cups and refrigerate until firm.
NOTE: Instead of refrigerating, I like to freeze my jello shots. Not to the point where they're frozen rock hard, but so that they have a sort of consistency that is firm but squishy. Okay, that doesn't make sense. If you're a total geek like me and remember senseless dribble, back in the late 80's these juice triangle thingys came out. It was like a triangle shaped thing filled with juice that you froze and you squeeze out to eat. It had a sort of icy, slushee consistency. That's what I'm talking about.

Directions:
1. Fill the glass with ice.
2. Pour in the whiskey.
3. Pour in the sour mix.

1. Fill the glass with ice.
